De violist Julija Hartig wint de Edison Klassiek in de categorie Nieuwkomer Nationaal. Op haar album Dark Velvet speelde ze voor haar geschreven en bewerkte muziek. Maandag had Hans Haffmans een gesprek met de winnaar.

Hartig beschrijft dit debuutalbum zelf als een muzikale autobiografie. Elke componist op het album verhoudt zich op een andere manier tot haar muzikaliteit. Tibor Hartig, Julija’s eigen vader, is één van de componisten die op het album te horen is.
Goed doordacht
Het juryrapport is lovend over de uitvoeringen op de cd. "De wijze waarop Hartig de stukken uitvoert - zowel solo als samen met pianist Reineke Broekhans en cellist Maja Bogdanović - is telkens met een geheel eigen en persoonlijk idioom: van intiem omfloerst tot rauw en driest. Het onderbouwt het goed doordachte verhaal dat de stukken tezamen vertellen."

The jury praised her debut album 'Dark Velvet,' which she herself describes as a musical autobiography. The jury report read, "The way Hartig performs the pieces - both solo and together with pianist Reineke Broekhans and cellist Maja Bogdanović - is in each case with a completely unique and personal idiom: from intimate understated to raw and trippy. It underpins the well-thought-out story the pieces tell together." Her father, Tibor Hartig, is also featured as one of the composers on the album.
As a violinist, Julija plays in several ensembles. She is first violinist in the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, co-founder of ROctet and plays with the collective LUDWIG. The violinist was born in 1972 in Yugoslavia, where she studied violin at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. Since 1994, Julija has lived in the Netherlands, where she graduated cum laude as a Codarts student.
